Largest shopping center in Europe
The "Westfield London" in London is one of the largest and most significant shopping centers in Europe, located in the White City district in the west of the city. It opened on October 30, 2008, and was a project of the Westfield Group, built on a former industrial and exhibition site that was, among other things, the venue for the Franco-British Exhibition of 1908. With an initial retail space of around 150,000 square meters, it was the largest covered shopping center in the British capital at the time of its opening. Following an expansion between 2014 and 2018, the area grew to about 240,000 square meters, making it the largest shopping center in Europe, a position it temporarily shared with its sister center "Westfield Stratford City" in east London. The center is a key component of one of London’s largest regeneration zones and has significantly influenced the local economy and culture.
